Table football Button

TABLE SOCCER BUTTON IN SALTO, URUGUAY

The city of Salto is the second city of Uruguay, has approximately 100,000 inhabitants.

I will briefly chronicle the history of "foosball buttons" (as we call it here) in Salto. In the mid 60's, a professor of Physical Education (Sequeira Leites), from Brazil is played in the YMCA, there introduced this game appropriate for the days when the weather allowed outdoor activity .

The game quickly won followers and organized, by the end of the decade major tournaments had its seat in the YMCA. I was a young child and only knew about it for references from some participants, especially a great player named Hebert Amarillo (now a lawyer).

Over time, sport-hobby was extended, and played in 70 in different areas of the city. By 1970 (counting 7 or 8 years old, today I have 47) I began to practice what it was and is a passion.

We live our "golden age" in the late '70s. In 1977 he organized championships on Sunday mornings, where harsh competition for the title starred "Lucho" Vives (National always as a team), Roberto Fioritti (Germany) and myself, Jimmy Pagani (Brazil), although great game showed Jose Avelino. They also played Luis Monchetti, Elder Lerena, Antonio Galli, Elder and Elsie Lerena Felix.

We always play with authentic clothing buttons, and our regulations expressly prohibits what we call "chips" (buttons Brazilians, made exclusively for the game, usually acrylic).

Our rule, originating in the regulations introduced in the AJC, but transformed by the experience of many years, was always "a touch" and the archer goalkeeper was always the one button, because we have always contradictory to team up with ten buttons and a prism (¿?). ... The "golden age" for the group of players that I was part, was in the late 70's early 80's, the Brazilian influence still retain it in our regulation size arcs (goals), whose 11 x 4.5 cm . correspond to "arcs" getting into gaming buttons Brazil.

I will name some players from Salto, most no longer practices the game: Aurelio Vives, Jose Avelino, Roberto Fioritti, Mario Bernasconi, Monchetti Luis Fernando Da Costa, Ricardo Sanchez, Sergio Pereira, Elder Lerena, Elsie Felix.

A big hug to all buttons.
