What are RSS feeds and RSS channels?
So, you want to know what RSS means? Well you have come to the right place. I worked with a lot of different technologies to do with RSS feeds recently and I am so excited about the power of using these methods. I will give a brief overview of what this service is and how you can use this service to promote the website and actually create content for a website in this article. I will be sharing more in future articles on how to really use the full power of these methods to build massive back links and spread your content over the Internet with minimum effort and maximum return!
RSS - Really Simple Syndication
It is an internet service that has been around for years, but was really picking up in popularity as technology has matured with new Web 2.0 sites like MySpace, Facebook and Twitter. RSS So, as we have said stands for "Really Simple Syndication" and allows a website to provide a stream of live updates in a format that can be used in your web browser, email client or your favorite application newsreader. This simply means that you can get all the updates of your favorite websites in one place, instead of having to go to each website to see if there are new posts or articles.
If you want to see an example of an RSS feed, simply go to Feedburner, this is a site to Google and is used to monitor and promote your RSS feed. Just "Feed Burner" in Google and type will be the first link. You can find other RSS Feed here and see what "exactly" is an RSS feed.
Normal RSS feeds only 2 different data fields in a title and a brief description. There are some specialized feeds that allow attachment of videos or podcasts as well. Depending on the web service that you use to create your feed may be able to use links within the feed or not.
RSS Some popular models are the following:
0.091 RSS
RSS 1.0
RSS 2.0
Atom 0.03
OPML
RSS feeds are a great way to get the information to the world and if you do not have a mailing list on your site anyone can subscribe to updates using the site. So that in mind, I highly recommend using this service on your website or websites.
For success,
Nick Simpson ...
