8 Old Fashioned Advertising Materials

1. The Human Billboard

This is one of the oldest advertising techniques out there. The beauty of it is its simplicity. A person who is simply on a road with a sign that displays information about a nearby store or business. Usually the sign is used to advertise a sale or special promotion.

2. Poster

What is older than a good well-designed poster? The companies were printing posters as a way to promote themselves for decades. And why not? A well planned poster printing can still do wonders for your bottom line. Most companies now invest in printing color posters that are more attractive and appealing.

3. Newspaper Ads

We often hear about the decline of the newspaper. Circulation numbers are down, and many large newspapers are going under. But that has not changed the fact that placing ads in newspapers is still a popular - and effective - marketing strategy. It 's still a good way to reach a large number of clients in a very short time period. And, with all the new advertising techniques out there, it is always cheaper.

4. Billboards

These are simply a larger and less mobile, the human version of the bill. You still see them up and down the highways and inner cities. Just as newspaper ads, reaching a fairly high number of people and are not terribly expensive. But, as newspaper ads, it is impossible to determine exactly who sees your efforts.

5. Radio Spots

At one point, the radio ads were considered new and unique. But with television and the Internet have assumed that role, radio ads have become unfashionable. With this came a decline in relative prices. Radio ads can actually be done for much less than the cost of a commercial television, and has much more control over what type of customers they feel.

6. Bus Stop Benches

It 's amazing how many different ways people have devised to promote their business. The ads on the benches at the bus stop literally put your right under the trade name of someone behind. The strange thing is: it works. Bus stop bench ads continue to produce moderate increases in sales.

7. Skywriting

Unfortunately, you do not see too many ads placed in the sky these days. I always liked seeing the words written in smoke plane. That must take a great talent - not to mention courage - to pull off. Some companies should try to revive this old fashioned technique.

8. Shopping Ads

Put a small ad in a shopping cart in your local supermarket is a cheap way to get new customers. Certainly not bring in Slews of money, but it's probably good for a few new customers every year. And with the low cost involved, it does not really have much to lose ....
