Optimize your Title Tags - Top 10 Strategies

The title tag is the tag most important of your website optimization for search engine. If you optimize the tag correctly you will be well ahead of your competitors.

Top 10 strategies to optimize your title tag

1. Keyword Search

Find more targeted keywords on the content of the website. I use "Find it" because it contains all the tools of brainstorming you need in one place ie

Google adwords keyword tool

Seodigger keyword tool

Yahoo Keyword Selector tool

2. Length of the title tag

Limit the length of the title tag to 70 characters (including spaces). Search engines usually truncate the title after 68-70 characters. This means you can use about 6-7 words. This increases the probability of getting all your stuff to be displayed in all three major search engines.

3. Use key phrases

Do not use single keywords. These are too competitive to achieve high rankings. Instead use 2-4 words that include the targeted keyword phrase.

4. Password

Enter your keyword targeted more at the beginning followed by the second most targeted keywords. This not only helps your ranking in search engines, but it appears at the top of your browser when visitors visit your website.

If your keyword phrase is "dog grooming and training"

instead of writing "the first 7 tips for dog grooming and training" to write this for your title tag

5. Do not repeat the keywords

Do not use the same keyword more than once. This can be considered spam by search engines and you can see a drop in your rankings.

6. Do not place your company name at the beginning

While browsing the web sites you will notice many put their company name or website address at the beginning of the title tag. Probably rank N. 1 for that term, however, does not help your rankings. Place the best keywords or keyword phrases at the beginning followed by the name of the company. ie

Dog Grooming and Training - Dog Care Inc.

7. Use a divider

Use spaces, hyphens (-) or bars (|) to separate your keyword phrase to the name of the company. This will help you classify this page by both phrases.

8. Repeat your keywords in title and content

The header tags (h1) is often used for the first title on your web page. Include the same keywords in the title as the title tag. Your content should reflect the keywords you chose for the title tag. Be sure to sprinkle throughout your web copy. This tells the search engines the theme of your site and rank accordingly.

9. Do not use the title tag the same for all web pages

Create unique title tags for each web page using different keywords per title tag. Then use these keywords on your web page content.

10. Write for your visitors

Keep your website visitors in mind when writing. Create attractive and descriptive titles. Your description tags and web copy should expand the content of the title tag.

Conclusion

Title tags are critical to achieving high ranking in search engines. Take time to realize a short description, concise and attractive to each of your webpages. Most of your competitors have not read these top 10 strategies so that the site has the potential to exceed them .......
